bwin — Bookmaker Review 2026
Pros
- German and Austrian football coverage runs deeper than rivals
- Match tracker is a usable substitute for streaming
- Gibraltar licence, long operating history
- Paysafecard accepted, which is rare here
Cons
- No live streaming in most markets
- Margins are the widest of the licensed operators here
- Welcome offer is small and carries a five-times rollover
Pricing and Margin
bwin is the most expensive of the four licensed operators reviewed here. Margins on mainstream football markets run above Bet365 and Betway, and the gap is consistent rather than occasional.
The exception is German-language football, where the pricing tightens noticeably and the operator competes properly. Bundesliga, 2. Bundesliga and the Austrian divisions are priced at a standard the rest of the book does not reach — which is unsurprising given where the brand's customer base has always been.
For anyone outside that niche, a bettor who defaults to bwin rather than comparing gives up more than at any other licensed operator on this site.
Market Depth
Solid on the major competitions, strong in the German-speaking ones, and unremarkable elsewhere.
The distinguishing feature is how far the German and Austrian coverage extends down the divisions — markets on fixtures that Betway and Unibet do not price at all. Ice hockey and handball also carry more depth than the general standard, again tracking the core market.
In-play coverage on the majors is comparable to Betway's: adequate on the big fixtures, thinner below them.
The App
Reviewed separately in our [app review](/en/betting-apps/bwin-app/).
Competent and unremarkable, with one feature worth naming: the animated match tracker, which shows possession, attacks and set pieces in near real time. It is not a substitute for pictures, and it is honestly the best available response to not having them — enough information to bet momentum-driven markets, not enough to judge what is actually happening on the pitch.
The persistent irritation is promotional weight. Offers and cross-sells appear more heavily here than at the other apps, and it is worth spending five minutes in settings on installation to turn most of it off.
Payments and Withdrawals
Card, PayPal, Skrill, Neteller and Paysafecard. The last is uncommon among the operators here and matters for one specific use: as covered in our [Paysafecard guide](/en/payment-methods/paysafecard/), a prepaid voucher is the only method that enforces a hard spending ceiling.
Payout approval runs 24 to 72 hours, slower than Bet365 and Betway and not unreasonable. Verification follows the standard pattern and is best completed at signup.
Support and Disputes
Adequate. Response times are reasonable during European hours, answers on settlement questions are generally accurate, and the German-language support is better staffed than the English-language equivalent.
The Gibraltar Regulatory Authority licence sits in the same tier as Malta — a credible regulator with fund-protection requirements and a functioning complaints route, if a smaller public enforcement record than the UK Gambling Commission's. Entain group ownership brings the process maturity of a large listed operator.
The Welcome Offer
A $20 free bet at a five-times rollover, plus a 25% reload bonus for existing customers.
This is the weakest opening offer on the site: the smallest amount attached to one of the highest rollovers. Clearing $100 of turnover for a $20 free bet whose real value is well below face is not a compelling trade, and the reload carries the same demanding structure.
If the account is being opened, it should be for the coverage rather than the promotion.
Who It Suits
A second or third account, opened specifically for German and Austrian football, ice hockey or handball. In those competitions the depth and pricing justify it.
For general betting, both Bet365 and Betway offer better prices, better promotions and — in Bet365's case — the streaming that bwin lacks entirely.
